ICOMOS Georgia Membership Instructions for those Interested in Joining
Become a member of ICOMOS’s national and global community!
ICOMOS has over 10,500 members in more than 150 countries worldwide. It brings together professionals from various fields related to cultural heritage sites and is the largest international organisation in this field. ICOMOS is an advisory organisation to UNESCO's World Heritage Committee. Members of ICOMOS become part of an international professional network and have the opportunity to participate in expert meetings, professional workshops, scientific exchanges, and educational programs worldwide.

Membership Categories:
Individual Membership is available to interested persons with at least five years of experience in the field of cultural heritage conservation. Individual members represent professionals with expert knowledge in heritage protection and related fields who share the objectives defined by the ICOMOS Georgia Charter and work towards achieving these goals. Individual members have the right to vote and participate in elections.
Young Professional Membership is a sub-category of individual membership. It may be granted to young professionals or students under the age of 30. They benefit from a reduced membership fee.
Institutional Membership can be obtained by any organization working in the field of conservation, protection, restoration, or development of historical heritage, sites, and landmarks. This includes organisations that own or care for heritage sites and that share the objectives defined by the ICOMOS Georgia Charter and work towards achieving these goals. Institutional members appoint a qualified professional as their representative on the committee.
Associate Members represent both individuals and legal entities interested in cultural heritage who support the protection and development of cultural heritage through various means while sharing the objectives defined by the ICOMOS Georgia Charter. Associate members do not have the right to vote in elections.
Honorary Members are individual members elected by the international ICOMOS General Assembly upon nomination from national or international scientific committees, who have made significant contributions to the protection and development of cultural heritage at the international level through their work and achievements.

If you wish to apply for membership, please download the membership application form, fill it out, and send it to info@icomos.org.ge along with the accompanying documents.

Applicants can submit their applications at any time during the year. Only applications received by October 1 will be considered for membership in the following year.
Upon confirmation of membership, the candidate will receive an invoice to pay the relevant annual membership fee.
The National Committee's secretariat will notify the international secretariat about the admission of new members and will enter their contact details into the online database of ICOMOS members and experts and pay their membership fees to the international secretariat.
Those wishing to renew their membership must notify the secretariat in writing no later than October 1.
Rules for Termination of ICOMOS Membership
Membership in ICOMOS is terminated if:
a. The membership fee is not paid by May 1 of the current year;
b. If a member wishes to terminate their membership, they must notify the national committee in writing at least three months before the end of the year;
c. The organization is dissolved;
d. A member is officially removed from the membership list by the national committee's board under the provisions of Article 7a and b of the international ICOMOS Charter or for any other serious reason.
(According to Article 7a and b of the international ICOMOS Charter: Non-compliance with the ICOMOS rules and ethical principles will be considered by the relevant national or international scientific committee and may entail sanctions. Before a sanction is imposed and membership is terminated, the member must be notified of the charges and asked to provide explanations. In the case of a sanction, the member may appeal to the board. The appeal suspends the decision. The board's decision is final. Procedures related to sanctions and membership termination (Articles 7a and 7b) are confidential, as are warnings issued. All other sanctions may become public.)
An individual or institution whose membership has been terminated due to non-payment of dues may renew their membership after paying the annual fee.
The board is obliged to explain the reasons for refusal to the applicant. If the board does not approve the membership application, the applicant has the right to appeal to the international ICOMOS board. The appeal process is explained in Articles 18 and 86 of the document "ICOMOS Rules and Procedures."
