ICOMOS Georgia invites you to celebrate 18 April - the International Day for Monuments and Sites.
The theme for 18 April 2026 is Living Heritage. This day will be dedicated to supporting efforts to protect living heritage at risk due to complex and accelerated disasters and conflicts.
To mark the day, ICOMOS Georgia is hosting the exhibition “Traditions of the Great Liakhvi Valley- Village of Kekhvi”, which showcases the intangible cultural heritage of the occupied territories.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a screening of videos prepared as part of the work with the displaced community.
The exhibition is the result of cooperation between the Georgian National Committee of the Blue Shield and the Center for the Protection of Historical-Cultural Heritage and aims to present the results of the ethnographic research of the intangible cultural heritage of the occupied Tskhinvali region, in particular, the village of Kekhvi in the Didi Liakhvi Valley.
The photos and texts presented at the exhibition will allow the visitor to learn about the rich cultural heritage of the village of Kekhvi, its past and present, and to listen to the stories told by the people of Kekhvi about the life and traditions of the village before and after the 2008 Russia-Georgia war.
The exhibition is mobile and was available for viewing in Gori, Shaumiani and Koda IDP settlements.
The exhibition will be held on April 18, at 4:00 PM, at the Heritage Resource Center, address: Mepe Solomon Brdzeni Street, #33, Tbilisi.
